Fortunately, there are plenty of great keyboards to choose from in between the two price points mentioned. You can still easily spend that much today if you want a keyboard with the highest quality, variety and edit-ability of sounds. For under $400 (US), you can find some velocity sensitive keyboards with quality sounds, including very impressive piano sounds, that would have cost closer to $2000 (US) not too long ago.
